The Office of Sustainability to Conduct Surveys with Local Food Business

The City of Tempe’s Office of Sustainability has been working hard to get the city’s first and Arizona’s second Climate Action Plan adopted to help guide the city in future investments that will help protect our residents and economy in the future. Our Climate Action Plan (CAP) focuses on three areas for mitigation and adaptation: energy, transportation, and extreme heat. The plan outlines key actions to take in each area and provides suggestions for the business community to get more involved in safeguarding our city from climate change.

In addition to the CAP program, the Office of Sustainability wants to speak with food businesses directly to learn more about their interests in sustainability. We’d like to learn from you how the City can better support your efforts towards adopting sustainable practices. So, this spring, we are hitting the road and coming to you! We’ll be conducting brief interviews in the months of February and March. Interviews will last approximately 30-45 minutes. Feedback from interviews will provide valuable insight in guiding future sustainable business programming at the city.

So, if you are a food business owner or operator in the City of Tempe, please contact the Local Climate Action and Local Enterprise Coordinator, Samantha Zah, at (480) 858-2380 or Samantha_Zah@tempe.gov for more information! We’d love to hear from you and schedule a visit to learn more about your efforts and interests in sustainability!
